Staying Certified As An Instructor
What Are My Requirements?

The Rank of ATC Instructor is a great accomplishment and cherished achievement. I have noticed some individuals over the years only want the title without the responsibility and dedication needed to keep such a level. These people often show disrespect towards Masters and other members by just showing up ever so often, bossing everyone around, causing issues (gossip) and leaving without even assisting other students or the academy to grow.
If the only reason you want an Instructor belt is so you can grow a bigger ego, boss people around or just need to fit in, without putting in the time and effort, then we cannot assist you.
However, if you wish to become an Instructor to assist others in self growth, discipline, self defense, overcoming of fears and improved life, then you will be a true Instructor. These shared parts of your own achieved benefits as well as teaching others what you have learned, will make you a better person and martial artist. Then the belt you wear will have a deeper meaning in life.
As in many professions, you will need to continue your learning with your Grandmasters, Masters & Senior Belts so you can maintain your Certified Instructor status. In order to maintain this certification, you must attend training camps, attend testings and assist in classes or you will lose your certification. The camps are important because there are always updates and changes in all styles, and these events give you the opportunity to learn the martial arts basics in other styles, which will help enhance your TaeKwonDo training and self defense perimeters. TaeKwonDo should be viewed as your "university major" and other styles taught by ATC as "minor courses." Basically, if you don't assist or teach, then all you have is a belt that will look nice in your closet.
