ATC Educational Director

Joanne Spillmann  has enjoyed working with and being around children all of her life. She has assisted parents in need of help in raising their children and helped children to grow academically, physically, emotionally and socially since her junior high school days. As a teenager, Joanne helped develop and run a program for children of all ages with Down’s Syndrome. That program included physical development and education to suit each individual child. It was from this experience that Joanne realized that every child has different, individual needs. Today, her pre-Kindergarten program is based on this premise.

Joanne Spillmann was educated at California State University, Fullerton. There, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development and teaching credentials. At the time of her graduation in 1995, she had worked in three separate preschool facilities, giving her the opportunity to experience different learning program styles. From these experiences, she developed her own course of preschool education, which she has taught for six years with great success.

Many of the clients who were fortunate enough to be able to learn and grow with Joanne, have won academic awards after entering Kindergarten as a direct result of her preschool preparation techniques. Children have been recognized in many different ways after being prepared for his/ her academic life by Joanne, such as Student of the Month in Kindergarten for the entire Corona/ Norco district and most excelled student at Kindergarten entry.

In addition, Joanne has assisted students of all ages by tutoring in areas of difficulty for the individual student. Many students’ grades, attitudes and confidences have been raised as a direct result of her tutoring ability. “Watching children grow is fascinating and thrilling for me,” explained Joanne when asked why she seems to have so much success. “I just enjoy what I do, and the children seem to respond to that.”
