TaeGuek TaiChi
TaeGuek/Tai Chi is the origin of all things in the Universe. Tae in this sense means Enormity or Vastness, Guek means Eternity. TaeGuek represents the most profound Oriental philosophy from which Oriental philosophical views on the world, cosmos and life are derived. TaeGuek has no form, no beginning, no ending, yet everything comes from TaeGuek. TaeGuek is something that contains the essence of everything.
TaeGuek TaiChi is an ancient Korean art of meditative movement through which one may achieve harmony and balance with the universe. By creating balance and harmony within ones self and nature, one is capable of using this universal energy. Because of this capability, we named this art TaeGuek, which, translated, means the "Hand of Eternal Power."
TaeGuek is a soft, internal martial art consisting of slow, flowing, meditative movements. Although TaeGuek is an excellent form of self defense, most people practice it strictly for the health benefits.
TaeGuek improves the quality of life, maintains physical health, increases a person's mental awareness and enhances spiritual serenity. By teaching awareness of their own internal energy, the student learns to assimilate unity, harmony and coordination in movement as well as a peaceful daily life. There are no age limitations to participation and no special equipment is needed.
The ultimate benefit of TaeGuek is to experience life in a healthy and fully aware state of being.
One of the other applications of TaeGuek is the internal power cultivated through practice is Chi healing. Chi healing can be applied to yourself or used to assist another person. By helping to balance and promote the flow of Chi, Chi healing helps one's body heal itself and generally tones and strengthens the internal organs and entire nervous system.
There are 8 TaeGuek patterns, each of which is designed to progress a students techniques and energy balance.
